Bombarded with copious amounts of Top 40 gamma rays as a child, I owe much of my young singing career to the Seattle sounds of Nirvana, the rap-rock edge of Rage Against the Machine (how this is reflected in my music you'll never know and neither will I), the vocal stylings of Black American vocalists, and a whole list of other musical influences I can't really remember.

The stuff I write is a mish-mash of elements drawn from a combination of whatever's going on in my head and whatever I've been listening to in the past 10 years or so. Dark, heartfelt, confused. Best served with coffee.

Telebury

It all started in 1997, by Adrian and Sam during their training days for a local company. With their experience during their early 90's band and being bored (thought working on daily jobs would be a curse), both decided to start back again. Offically formed in 1999 after recruiting, meeting up, jamming with some friends. Inspired by an electric guitar Telecaster and Eavis’s Glastonbury festival, Telebury was born. Musically, influenced by the Brits. The Cure, U2, Longpigs, Radiohead and Elbow. A three guitar-attack band, described as melancholic, dreamy, raising heaven from the distant echoes. The band recorded "Di mana bulan selalu retak" a theatre-play theme song for A. Samad Said for their first released.
The band are based here, Subang Jaya, Selangor D.E Malaysia.

The Aggrobeats

AGGRO = violent or threatening behaviour, especially between groups of young people. In The Aggrobeat's own definition, they took the term and apply it into their music ; an aggressive music with an aggressive attitude on stage. The Aggrobeats are the ‘Boss Reggae’ band of Malaysia. Having the similarities with their super duper Californian heroes, The Aggrolites; The Aggrobeats are extremely inspired by them, but, musically, both are looking up to the same pioneer from the hard-screaming edge of James Brown to The Meters to the really authentic 60’s skinhead reggae in the mix.

The band crystallized their musical ideals for the genre by cutting down the ska beat and mixed with funk and soul into it. With a simple catchy sing-a-long melody & a soulful vocals, fuelled with life lyrical content; guitar-works, screaming hammond organ & the 60’s style live studio recording sound are their priority. The band played their first gig at The Brandals ( an Indonesian Rock & Roll band ) tour in Kuala Lumpur. Few months after, they recorded a DIY demo ‘The Good, The Bad and The Reggae’, which resulted in the released of their own brand 7” vinyl, distributed by Copasetic / Scorcha Records, Germany. Up to this hour, they still continue the old-skool self promo strategy, perform at gigs and music events.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, the band consisting Edy J. Herwan / Aggro-Boss ( vocals, guitar ), Sodd / Soul-Boy ( guitar, vocals ), Amir Hamzah / Madcap ( bass, vocals ), Bakri / Groovin’ ( drums , vocals ) and Ed / Shooter ( organ, vocals ) .

Gyna Hates Tango ditubuhkan di sekitar pertengahan tahun 2008 yang dianggotai oleh empat jejaka-jejaka impian iaitu Ajip (vokal), Jun (gitar) , A-one (Bass), dan Azwan (Drum). Kesemuanya berasal berlainan negeri iaitu Ipoh, Ampang, Seremban dan Johor Bahru tetapi semuanya menetap di Kuala Lumpur. Gyna Hates Tango memperjuangkan muzik-muzik yang berentak "Pop Punk & Alternative Rock" yang menjadi kegilaan keempat-empat ahlinya yang amat mencintai muzik tersebut. Lydias Diery ditubuhkan sekitar tahun 2004 yang terdiri daripada pelajar-pelajar UiTM Shah Alam yang ingin mencuba nasib bertanding dalam Battle of The Bands yang dianjurkan oleh para pelajar UiTM. Nama Lydias Diery diberi apabila salah seorang anggota kumpulan ini menemui sebuah diari yang dimiliki oleh seorang gadis bernama Lydia. Penemuan diari Lydia ini telah memberi inspirasi kepada kumpulan kugiran ini untuk menghasilkan lagu-lagu berdasarkan catatan yang ditulis oleh Lydia.

Muzik Lydias Diery dipengaruhi oleh kumpulan-kumpulan luar negara iaitu The Wannadies, The Calling, Lifehouse, Oasis, Hoobastank, Silverchair, Dewa, Padi dan Nidji. Lydias Diery menggabungkan kreativiti melodi, permainan ‘Guitar Riffing’ dan teknik ‘Falsetto Voice’ dalam penghasilan lagu-lagu mereka. Lydias Diery melabelkan muzik mereka sebagai Alternative dan Pop Rock iaitu dengan ‘4 chords finggering’, bunyi gitar yang berat dan permainan drum yang bercorak Punk dan Pop.

Pada awal pertubuhan Lydias Diery, mereka dianggotai oleh 4 ahli iaitu Botaq, Aus, Lee Ja dan Asrap. Pada tahun 2005, Aus dan Lee Ja mengundurkan diri dari Lydias Diery dan penguduran mereka telah mengubah posisi dalam kugiran ini dengan menambah 3 lagi anggota baru menjadikan ahli kumpulan Lydias Diery kini menjadi 5 orang dengan menambahkan bunyian keyboard sebagai satu lagi instrumen dalam muzik Lydias Diery.

KUMPULAN Nitrus mula dikenali apabila single mereka, Hujung Dunia menjadi lagu latar untuk drama dan filem Gol & Gincu arahan Bernard Chauley.

Sejak itu, setiap karya dihasilkan kumpulan dianggotai Edriely Ibrahim (Eddy-vokal), Syed Helmy Syed Hood (Syed-gitar), Mohd Azie Mohd Isa (Bob-bass) dan Iskandar Shah Ali (Is-dram) menjadi perhatian pendengar muzik tempatan.

Menarik mengenai lagu yang dimuatkan dalam album Nitrus ini, ia bertunjangkan rock, tetapi mempunyai cita rasa pelbagai. Malah apabila menghayati lagu Resah, pengaruh irama brit pop cukup kuat. Riwayat dan Selalu di Hati pula pengaruh ska dan pop menjadikan ia mudah diterima dan muziknya begitu ringan.

Dalam erti kata lain, album Nitrus agak seimbang dari sudut melodi dan penyampaian. Malah susunan muziknya berada di tahap baik. Persembahan permainan instrumen juga terkawal dan seiring dengan vokal dipersembahkan Eddy.

Paling menarik perhatian dalam album Nitrus ini apabila mereka turut menampilkan lagu bertemakan ketuhanan, Tuhan ciptaan vokalisnya. Penyampaian liriknya mudah untuk difahami dan ia kedengaran sangat jujur.

Statik berasal dari Skudai, Johor Bahru, dan ditubuhkan pada tahun 2004, dimana antara line-up terawalnya ialah Enol dan Hassan. Ketika itu Enol dan Hassan juga mempunyai komitmen bersama The Official. Oleh kerana itu, Statik hanyalah sekadar band sambilan pada mereka, dan pertukaran line-up sering berlaku.

Setelah berjuang bersama The Official, mereka berundur dari The Official pada tahun 2007.Dalam masa yang sama, Haziq iaitu adik kepada vokalis The Official pula mempunyai komitmen bersama band yang ditubuh olehnya sendiri iaitu The Related, namun atas sebab-sebab tertentu, Haziq membubarkan The Related.

Setelah masing-masing tiada ikatan pada mana-mana band, mereka bertiga mula berkerjasama untuk menghidupkan semula Statik.Bermula pada Julai 2008, Statik kembali aktif, dan sehingga kini, dengan gabungan idea dan ilham mereka bertiga setelah masing-masing melalui pengalaman bermain muzik dalam band-band tertentu, Statik masih lagi berkerja keras untuk menghasilkan karya-karya baru untuk anda semua.

Kini Statik dianggotai oleh Haziq @ Bagak sebagai vokalis dan gitaris, Hassan @ Elektro Statik sebagai bassis, dan Enol sebagai pemain drum.

A Band Who "Play What we Want To Play" and to express our interest towards music. Was formed in around 2003 as ’scania’ but then, because scania is one of the lorry’s engine’s nameWe changed our name to The Scaniacs. The first Line up is Lohan (guitar/vox), PD (drum), Lokman (bass) And Zul (2ndgitar). Because a lot of commitment needed in this band, between study and music and some problem that can’t be solve, PiDi And Zul left the band and we took Yus as a new Bassist. So Until now, the line-up stay together but ayOL(asna) is helping us out on drums <--Thanks! bro.

The band started somewhere in January 2003. Inspired by a lot of British / Swedish pop band that they love such as Suede, Mansun, The Bluetones, Blur, The Boo Radleys, The Seahorses, The Wannadies, Tommy 16 and many more.The single 'Diary Of Love' were recorded and have been released in the compilation including all the bands from their state Perak.Have played first show as the opening act at the 'Kargo Rock Festival' on 10 May 2003.The Hans hopes to bring in a new breeze of fresh air and surely something new for the local music scene with their style especially with its music that hope all young people & adults call relate to.The band plays music on the lighter & brighter concept,that talks about love,life and hope.Cheers!

La Luna

La Luna band also shares a similar fascination with easy-listening retro pop. The sound is a bit jazzier and the band often takes their cute love songs to a sadder place, exploring themes of long-distance longing and bittersweet breakups. The band started out with a male vocalist singing in English when it formed in 1999 but shortly thereafter the members felt their sound and style needed a feminine touch. Enter lead singer Manik, who helped transform the band and take their sound to a wider audience. Better distribution on a major label was the next step for this band making music under "the moon," as their name suggests, and in the studios of some of the best producers in Jakarta.

The name Lucy in the Loo may come across as a little quirky, but take nothing away from the band. Their brand of indie powerpop meets garage rock sees them branching out from other staple indie rock bands in the country.Originating from Bandar Baru Bangi, LitL's music is fuelled with pumping garage rock riffs, crunchy fuzzed-out guitars intertwined with vocal melodies. The simple approach to their songs gives listeners an insight to their penchant for melodies and catchiness. For maximum pleasure, Lucy in the Loo is best to be experienced with cotton candy flavoured ice cream topped with rainbow sprinkles, and iced peach tea. :)

Kisahnya mula apabila pada awal 2006,dua orang sahabat oshin dan myroll yang masing-masing bermain guitar ingin mencipta sebuah band projek dan mereka mula mencari orang untuk di jadikan line-up.Tidak lama kemudian mereka telah menjumpai seorang Vocalist iaitu Mateng.Dua orang sahabat tersebut telah berkenan dengan Mateng,lalu menjemputnya untuk join line-up mereka.Mereka masih kekurangan line-up iaitu drummer dan bassis.Dalam penghasilan untuk mencari line-up,Oshin,myroll dan mateng telah mencipta beberapa lagu untuk membuat persiapan.Tidak lama selepas itu,Mereka menjumpai Pemain Drummer iaitu Faiz.Kini Sinopsis hanya tingal mencari pemain bassis.Mereka mendapat kejutan bahawa meraka dapat tawaran bermain dalan mini gigs pada malam merdeka.Tampa segan silu,mereka menerima tawaran tersebut.Dengan ketidak cukupan line-up,iatu bassis,myroll yang sebelum ini bermanin second guitar,mengambil alih untuk bermain bassis. Selepas itu mereka terus berjuang untuk mencari line-up bassis.Sehinga bulan ramadhan kami tidak bertemu dengan pemain bassis dan terpaksa meminta tolong daripada anas a.c.a.b untuk bermain bassis sementara.Tidak lama selepas itu,Pemain Drummer,faiz menarik diri kerana urusan peribadi.Oleh yang demikian kami terpaksa mencari pemain Drummer dan akhirnya berjumpa iaitu jo-jo.

Sinopsis mula membuat demo dengan merekodkan lagu di dtunas studio(studio anas) dengan 5 lagu.Selepas siap kesemua lagu,anas memberi lagunya kepada Sinopsis iaitu'Teman Terpisah"yang di ubah lagu asalnya daripada lagu Bersama semula.Sebelum mereka mempromot demo mereka,mereka telah mendapat ilham dengan memampatkan lagi lagu mereka dengan penambahan keybordist.Tanpa mencari,mereka mempunyai teman yang sudi bermain dengan mereka iaitu eikien. Akhirnya Sinopsis berjaya mencipta demo mereka dengan bantuan anas dan Dtunas studio.Kini Sinopsis Cuba menghantar demo mereka ketempat-tempat 'recording'.

ROMANCESA..itulah nama band yang telah diilhamkan oleh Hizani dan Acap ..karier music mereka telah bermula sejak dibangku sekolah lagi dengan Hizani menjadi guitarist di Bubblegummers dan Acap vocal di Society Breakdown..tetapi setelah tamat pembelajaran di sekolah menengah.Acap terpaksa meniggalkan bandnya kerana ingin melanjutkan pelajaran di UITM sementara Hizani belajar di POLITEKNIK..setelah tamat pembelajaran diploma mereka lalu mereka sekali lagi bertemu di shah alam kerana masing-masing ingin sambung ijazah disitu..oleh kerana sering lepak dan bersua lalu mereka mendapat idea yang pelik lagi menarik..Hizani yang meminati lagu-lagu grunge,Britpop dan indie bergabung pula dengan Acap hard rock, metal band seperti Korn, RATM dan Deftones telah memulakan suatu idea iatu Hizani mengajak Acap untuk menubuhkan sebuah band baru yang bertemakan Hizani & Acap Band" atau "The Acap & Hizani" atau "Hizacap" or "Acapni",..rancangan mereka ini bertemakan juga ala-ala Tenacious D ataupun M2M versi lelaki lalu nama ROMANCESA telah dipilih hasil gabungan ROMANCE & ROMANSA

Pada tahun lewat 2007 yang lalu..Dengan idea yang mereka berdua ada lalu mereka mengadakan sesi jamming dengan memainkan beberapa lagu dengan hasil bantuan beberapa orang seperti Wan Hamdun , Bang Chik dan intan..setelah puas bermain music di studio lalu mereka dengan rasa berpuas hati dan konfiden telah mengadakan kerja-kerja merakam lagu-lagu mereka di sonic station studio di Bandar Sri Damansara dan akhirnya setalah berusaha bersungguh-sungguh mereka menriliskan ep pertama mereka iaitu ROMANTIKA EP..

EP itu telah dirilis pada bulan Febuari 2008 yang lalu dan telah dijual disetiap gig2 yang mereka sertai yang telah memuatkan beberapa lagu seperti 'KEMBALI , BERBULU , BINTANG KINI PELANGI dan OH LUNAKU'..Dengan hati yang terujanya setelah menriliskan ep pertama mereka telah menyertai gig pertama mereka di kuala kangsar iaitu gig `good,clean,fun 3`..dengan sambutan yang baik yang diterima pada gig pertama mereka telah menaikkan lagi semangat mereka untuk berkarya..setelah bermain 2 3 gig lalu mereka sebulat suara dengan muktamat menerima Wan Hamdun & Bang Chik menjadi ahli tetap ROMANCESA..dan seterusnya diikuti dengan kemasukkan dua penyanyi latar iaitu Aida & Aisha..tetapi keahlian aisha di dalam ROMANCESA tidak berkekal lama kerana dia melanjutkan pelajaran..walaupun kehilangan seorang ahli mereka tetap bersatu dan diceriakan kembali dengan kemasukan Shaa untuk posisi keyboardist..dengan kemasukan shaa telah mengindahkan lagi music mereka dan permandangan band ini terhadap peminat-peminat mereka..setelah beberapa bulan sejak mereka menriliskan EP mereka sering dijemput untuk membuat persembahan2 di gig2 sekitar lembah klang ini..ini telah menunjukkan ROMANCESA telah diterima baik terutamanya pada peminat-peminat band indie di Kuala lumpur..kini jangkaan bilangan peminat mereka sudah mencapai ribuan dan semakin dikenali..kini dengan sokongan dari peminat-peminat, mereka akan menyiapkan EP ke-2 mereka dan bakal menyediakan merchandise seperti tee , button ,dan pelbagai lagi..

'Bedroom Sanctuary' is Bo's definition of acoustic and raw music. It brings out the soul of this 21 year old music producer. Unlike his other musical acts, Bedroom Sanctuary is his expression of warmth, honesty and the basic story of his life.
Amir Iqram a.k.a. Bo discovered his passion for music when he picked up his first guitar at the age of 10. He then spent most of his weekends hanging out at music shops fiddling around with all the instruments in the shops. But playing around with instruments was just not enough, which led him to compose originals. At the age of 15, he gathered up with his high school mates and formed a jazz-rock band, Seven, which has been around for a while now. He soon discovered sequencing programs such as Fruity Loops and Reason which gave him the freedom to compose and produce his own electronic, house, neo-soul and experimental music. In 1991, Loque and his Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) schoolmate, Kadak discovered they had a passion for music that went beyond the usual rounds of gigging and jamming sessions. Forming what was then known as Loque's Tail , Loque and Kadak, together with a few MCKK friends, started producing their own material, with the hopes of making a name for themselves in the Malaysian music scene. It was while jamming in K.L during 1993 at Black Widow Studios that they bumped into Emmett, who was there jamming (as guitarist) with his band at that time, Grunge Dayz . Impressed with what he saw, Loque challenged Emmett to a ‘jamming showdown', after which they mutually decided to join forces, skills and creativity, to form their own band, and brand of music. After meeting up with drummer Kalai later that year, Butterfingers was officially born by the end of 1993, ready to take Malaysia by storm. Founded by Hafiz (previously on bass) and Rahul (guitars) in high school, this awesome foursome began their career playing shows at school events and battle of the bands competitions before coming out in the local scene with a handful of experience and a truckload of rockin’ songs that’ll definitely get you bopping, hopping and moshing non-stop. With a love for So-Cal Punk, One Buck Short has developed into one of the leading rock acts in the region.

Their debut single ‘That Day’ from their EP ‘Where Is The Mouse?!’ managed to break through to the Top 5 on the Hitz.fm Malaysian Top Ten with the band promoting their release with performances at both low-key underground shows as well as high profile shows such as ‘Rock the World IV’, ‘Rock the World V’ as well as the Asian X Games. Bittersweet

Bittersweet began in mid-2004 with 2 members who had the same musical interests. Both played in an Ipoh band before, and got to know each other well during that time. Herri and Zabil occasionally met to hangout and eventually decided to try their hand at writing music together. Both heavily influenced by British music, the two decided to put their heads together and record an EP, just for fun.

After the recording was completed Herri and Zabil distributed the material for feedback, which was mainly positive. When Zabil joined the Malaysian teaching force he had to quit the band, which left Bittersweet with only one of its founding members. Determined not to abandon what they started, Herri set about forming a complete line-up, particularly considering they'd been invited by Pet Projects to perform at Couple's EP launch. He enlisted Dinie as their bassist first of all, before adding Hafiez (guitarist) to the line-up, Pijie as Bittersweet's vocalist with Emai ..boards. Bittersweet finished recording their 2nd EP (Night and Morning Tales) on November 2004. They?ve been invited for shows at PISA Penang on January 2005. The feedback of the 2nd EP and the shows at Penang which were more massive than before. Bittersweet have been invited for plenty of shows after that in KL and Penang.

Starting 2006, Bittersweet been received a rave reviews from the crowd and people mostly in Klang Valley itself. Bittersweet finished recorded their 1st single (A Perfect Match) on June 2006. The singles feedback was heavily impressive and the track A Perfect Match has been played in many radio stations such as Fly fm, Hot fm, Hitz.fm and Mix fm. They also had been invited to play for a show at Baybeats festival 2006. By the end of 2006, Bittersweet has launched their 1st debut album, Perfect Match, on 16th December 2006 during Rock The World 7. Two months later, after the album has released, they started for a tour around the country. The tour began at 10th April which the first place that they gonna rock was KLPAC, Kuala Lumpur. Then,they went to JB(11th March), Malacca(17th March), Penang(8th April), Ipoh(14th April) and the last place was Sarawak on 28th April. The tour was good and successful.

After the Malaysian tour, Bittersweet in planning to broaden their music to the audiences around the South East Asia region. Finally Bittersweet comprises of 5 members that are Pijie(Lead Vocals), Herri(Lead Guitar / Vocals), Hafie (2nd Guitar / Vocals), Dinie(Bass), Emai(Keys / Synth) and a sessionist drummer.

On 30 November 2004 the band released their 1st album entittled "SODAPOP ROK & ROL". The album was nominated Top 5 best new artist to Anugerah Industri Muzik Malaysi2005.An elegantly"indypopmelayuklasikcelebration" in malaya because thousands of indierockmelayu band was born on the street that day..

Meanwhile 2007 after repackaged their first album,The Times release " NADA MELANKOLIK MALAYA" with a new benchmark where they are marching to the sound of melancholy & psychadelic...The album has been sold around 10 thousand copies nationwide even without any good airplay and promotions.

Funky Doryz; the name originally taken from the word Hunky Dory which means sexually attractive man! lol. They adopted the meaning with respect to the music attribute to the sound that they play! And to show how Funky they are!

Funky Doryz was formed in the early 2004. Ayaq who plays the bass formed Funky Doryz. Followed by Nur Jiwa who supported Ayaq’s idea to play a new kind of music that they have never played before. After a few boxes of cigarette and serious conversations and discussions, they decided to make O.P as the drummer, Bandu as the vocalist and Pejal to play lead guitar.

Bonded by childhood friendship, Funky Doryz was formed as a tool to express their maturity and obsession for music. From high school talent tines, prom nights to F1 show, Funky Doryz has dedicated their music to another level.

This band was a result from different kinds of music backgrounds by each and every one of them. O.P, AyaQ and Jiwa, former Secret Agent 606 members provide the sound of ska, soul, funk and jazz input into the band.

On the other hand Pejal provides the progressive, groove, rock and blues ingredient into it. Pejal is technically a guitarist who studies music formally. They claim Pejal as their ’Sifu’ although he is the youngest band mate.

While Bandu, a multi talented person who contributes his voice got his main influence by his ’mentor’ Zack (Rage Against The Machine), Jason Mraz, Jamie Cullum, Jamiroquai and some other rock jazz voices. Making these great artist as his idol to generate ideas on improvising his singing ability while still keeping up with soul, RnB, funk + rapping stuff.

Pesawat

Pesawat was born in the hangar of Ampang after occasional just-for-fun jamming session of four boys from Klang Valley. In 2005, they decided to take music seriously and started to write their own material that is different from the rest. Influenced very much by the bands from the UK, namely Editors, We Are Scientists, Dirty Pretty Things, Keane and Pigeon Detectives, Pesawat's music can be summed up as Indie Garage Rock with Malaysian flavor. Their music comes both in English and Malay.

The band went on hiatus in 2006 due to other commitments and back in the hangar in the end 2007 to write new songs with a new direction with more flavor. Pesawat was slotted to play at KLUE Urbanscapes 2008 as one of the voter's choice alongside with Komplot, The Otherside Orchestra and Auburn. The event was touted as the biggest art+music festival in Malaysia was held at KL Performing Arts Center.

The band was reviewed in the MalayMail(Malaysia’s top English tabloid) as the discovery of 2008. Due to that, Pesawat has achieved tremendous publicity and has become one of Malaysian band to be given attention. Other notable shows that they have played includes Converse Century Project in Queensbay Mall Penang, Crossborders at Laundry, KLUE Urbanscapes 2008 at KLPAC, EURO FINAL Indie Jam at Cyberjaya, Indie Youth Fest 2008 in conjuction with Electronic Sports World Cup 2008, XFreshFM X-Gig at Zouk KL, Moonshine and FlyFM Campurtchart Goes Live at Laundry. They have been getting rave reviews due to their energetic live shows.

Their first single entitled “Mirage” is due to release middle October 2008 and has already got an airplay in local radio station XFM. EraFM and FlyFM. The demo version of Mirage was featured in Junk Magazine Online Compilation and Voize - Possibly the best compilation ever! CD. Currently they are working on a yet-to-be-titled full length album with a second single to be out in November.

She writes a couple of songs, and basically picks out the best out of the bunch to share it with the world. Nothing really mindblowing. It is what it is, you dont have to like it.Best listened when you’re lying on grass in a quiet afternoon, your toes in the sand facing the ocean, or when you’re in the car watching trees go by.Singing became a habit when she was 6.She didn’t like her piano lessons and quit when she was 12.She wrote her first song when she was 15.

She quit singing when she was 16.She started writing songs again when she was 19.About the same time she started playing the guitar.Last year. She started playing the piano again.And now shes regretting that she quit music school.Crap.She’s very new to performing with the guitar, and piano.Saya budak baru belajar. Kalau salah tolong tunjukkan.Other than that, shes pretty much a very normal person. Who loves Jimi Hendrix, Alanis Morissette, and Feist, and goofing around.

Pada pertengahan tahun 2003 band ini pada mulanya adalah bernama Limited Garden yang dianggotai oleh iqbal = gitar&vokal, ashraf.d = bass dan afdhal = drum. Kami pada masa itu memainkan muzik berkonsepkan grunge dan merekod demo pertama yang bertajuk bank negara malaysia, pada tahun awal tahun 2005 zul = gitar kedua menyertai band kami dan pada masa itu juga kami telah menukar konsep kepada brit pop dan kami merekod demo kedua kami yang berjudul H.i.V.

Setelah bermain dibeberapa gig pada penghujung tahun 2007 nama band ini ditukarkan kepada ElektrikRetro dan pada masa yang sama azim dibawa masuk ke dalam band ini sebagai vokalis utama dan pada ketika itu juga kami sekali lagi menukar konsep kepada garage rock/art rock kemudian kami sekali lagi masuk studio untuk merakamkan demo yang bertajuk antarabangsa yang biasa sesudah membuat rakaman iqbal merasakan ingin menambah bilangan ahli band bagi menghasilkan muzik yang lebih baik daripada yang sebelum ini, kemudian rafizul = seksefon, aidili = trombon dan hizami = papan kekunci dipelawa untuk menyertai EletrikRetro. Matlamat utama band ini adalah untuk menghasilkan muzik yang berkualiti. Walaupun begitu, perjalanan masih jauh kerana kami masih muda banyak perkara yang perlu dilakukan sebelum mencapai matlamat itu.

Free Love

Free Love was formed in 1st of December 2002, they are based in Ipoh; a small old town in Northwest of Malaysia. Members of Free Love also actively involved with their own project. The front man, Mohd Jayzuan is a singer / songwriter, Meor Shahrus Amir fronted legendary Ipoh based indie rock outfit called Muck, Mohd Nadzri is in charge with his power pop combo dubbed as The Hollows and Mohd Hazriq with Harmacy; another indie rock band from Ipoh. These lo-fi rockers are heavily influenced by indie rock music and they mixed it with a little bit of power pop

In 2003, they recorded their first recording material called "Indie Rock Darling". The song appeared in Kopi SeChewen Vol. 3 compilation released that same year and became a hit in the local independent circuit and in 2005, they recorded another song called "Hey Ho, I Love You!" for Radio Malaya Compilation.

After years without any new recording material, the band came out with their debut album "Feed Us with Yr Love" in November 2008. The album is released by Bodysurf Music, an indie label from Ipoh and Sizzleteen Records another indie label that is based in New York will release it for the United States market.

Komplot released their first single in 2007 which was aptly called ‘Konflik Metropolis’. It became the rave of the town and about. It all soon became clear as Komplot returns the compliment that the local independent scene had. Komplot bared it all on their first ever show at Laundry Bar, when literally hundreds if not thousands came to the modish bar to gratify their curiosity as to what the hype about Komplot is all about. The show exploded with broken furniture flew about, massive dance-pit encircled, and significantly those who came were enthused and this started the craze called Komplot. From then on, it was apparent that Komplot is a band to pass on for and the songs to live by.

Flash forward to 2008, as Komplot grew more established, it was inevitable that Komplot had to release a brand new recording following the hugely successful single, ‘Konflik Metropolis’. This was said to be a mini album cum EP also some sort of a teaser for an upcoming full length album. That’s right. A full length album is in the works as we speak. However, the public whom now had become all too familiar with Komplot, pressed for a lengthier recording. Yet, Komplot understood a release can only be released when it is supposed to be released no matter how great the urgency. The songs in the EP had to go through rigorous regime in terms of re-phrasing, re-mixing and unorthodoxly re-recorded. This was done however to justify the hype and the demand that the public has pressed upon Komplot.

Komplot transcends all when it comes to critics and admirers alike. Both acknowledge the energy that Komplot gives a free rein to and the public would remain vigilant as to how Komplot would progress. And indeed, this is how Komplot relishes the challenge under adversity with their eclectic mix of band members. Eclectic in the sense of confluence, achievement and confidence. Zac, a regular player in the circuit, hits the melodies with such ease and commandeering while maintaining stage zest ness and authority. While Jeff ‘the whore’, is the ‘in-demand’ saxophonist at the moment and he calls himself home in Komplot. He cites Micheal Brecker and Hello Kitty as primary influences. However, the centre of gravity which makes sense to all of it all is the guitarist cum the chief songwriter. He calls himself Amrud. We call him the prodigious guitarist who brings to the band hope, desire, motivation and lastly, monies. Not many à la mode riffs can be churned out of a Godin. Yet he manages to do it with bravado, every time. Yup, every time

The band’s structure would be complete with the introduction of Komplot’s groove section comprising Chino and Haekal. The latter is the bassist. Walking down Komplot’s groove section, one would reminisce the good moment when funk is all boorish and uncouth. The groove section stand by the tryst that embraces the roots of groove and the energy which seemed to have lost it all in translation. Yet, what path do men take? As fame is death’s little sister, isn’t it all too corny that men should partake a path that conjoins passion and contentment instead of gluttony and sheer pompousness. Komplot firmly believes in the spirit of musicianship and the freedom that comes with it. Hence, Komplot embraces the D.I.Y and the independent spirit while being realistic and pragmatic to the reality of the local music industry. Komplot hopes to shatter the mental hurdle that independent acts should suck and be pain in the asses. Komplot believes in the thriving of the independent scene and would strive hard to go beyond the localized genre ship and ultimately to penetrate the persistent and conservative listeners.

Joanna & Co

Joanna & Co was first formed in 2006 when Joanna was discovered on a local radio station, XfreshFM by local producers bard and arab. Herewith, assembled Ijam, Kusha and Farid for Joanna. They instantly found music chemistry and a brother-sister bond that made them inseparable.

Joanna Renisa is a 23 year old rock princess, born to rock the stage and shake her tail feathers. Her infectious smiles and famous crowd teasing moments melts the hearts of men and lesbians. This singer/songwriter first started singing profesionally with an RnB girl group called Harmonee at the age of 7 at hotel events for kids. She soon rocked out of the girl group and into a band named after her :)

Ijam, the coolest guitarist in the band (that’s because he is the only guitarist in the band) plays an important role when it comes to song writing. 80% of Joanna & Co’s songs are composed by Ijam and Joanna. Therefore, he is the coolest. Ijam is currently playing for other local underground bands like Freygyle, Elm Kids and etc etc. Ijam is an icon when it comes to combing hair. Jaws of all ages falls flat on the ground whenever they see Ijam’s hair combing routine.

Farid looks like he eats kids; but he really is a funny guy. Everywhere he goes people calls him "brader", its either because his brother billy is hot, or because he looks like everyone’s brother. Farid joined the band in early 2007 when the previous drummer was too chicken shit to play for Joanna & Co. Farid was pulled by Ijam and it was a blessing that Joanna & Co is finally settled after the lost of the chicken shit drummer who stole cds. According to Joanna, Farid has really good taste in music and he deserves the spotlight in the band. However, this funnyman is reported to be very shy.

Kusha is the last puzzle that perfected Joanna & Co. His mad bass skills makes people wanna be him or wanna be WITH him. Kusha's lips contradicts with his hands. He doesn’t talk much but yet his fingers can pluck mad tunes. There are no other way for me, to describe how CRAZY this dude is. You just have to come down and see him for yourself. I swear, he will blow ur mind away. And as far as questions asked towards Kusha about his mad skills, a humble Kusha said "No Comment."

The band, first started as a side-project for Myo & Ducktoi in the middle of 1994 has now becoming a serious band after playing in lot of shows and gigs all over Malaysia since it formation. After various changes of line-up, Kujoy has join in permanently on guitar. With Feroz on board (after the absent of Aie & Par) & officially filling the bass department. MUCK have evolved from a simple indie rock band to become more experimental with their music. Hence, MUCK have succeed in creating their own sound and style, and at the same time attracting more people becoming their followers due to their new, fresh & interesting sound.

For those of you who are unfamiliar and didn't have a chance to listen to MUCK before this, MUCK sounds can be describes as an experimental 80's american indie rock/lo-fi to noise pop. Among the bands that've inspired MUCK since the early days until now are SONIC YOUTH, DINOSAUR JR. , PAVEMENT & SEBADOH. All the bands that have been mentioned above have helped MUCK musically in creating and finding their own sound. Estranged

Estranged started out in the year 2001 when Rich and Din were students in the International College of Music (ICOM) wanting to play rock music, therefore, they gathered a bunch of guys who had similar interests, thus, Estranged is formed. The band started off with their first ever gig in year 2001 at TwelveSI and since then, the gigs kept on coming. The band has also gone through many changes in the line up, even to this day, original lead guitarist Adzrai had just departed with the band due to furthering his studies. New grunge-influenced guitarist Hanafi replaces him. Estranged participated in the “Yamaha Asian Beat Competition” for year 2001 and managed to finish 2nd runners-up for the competition.

Right after Rock the World 4 (Malaysia’s annual rock festival) the band got inspired to cut an album. And after endless effort and all sorts of obstacles, they completed an 11 track album. The recording process took about 4 months (Oct – Dec 2004) to be completed. Thus, In Hating Memory is born. The debut album includes 10 English tracks and 1 Malay language track. The first single Velocity started receiving airplay since June 2005 followed by the second single Chocolate Syrup. Both singles were accompanied by music videos directed by “Motion Notion” and Tan Chee Meng respectively.

More on the album, the band was very fortunate as they had a chance to work with two dedicated engineers, Mr. Norman Rashid and Mr. Eduardo Garcia. Mr. Norman did the recording sessions and is very experienced as he has work with many pop Malay artists. Mr. Garcia however hails from Colombia, temporarily in Malaysia, finalized the mixing and mastering, and has exceptional talent and even a Latin Grammy nominee to his name.

A little more on the video Chocolate Syrup, the video received heavy airplay as the video had a different storyline to it, compared to other cliché rock videos. It was shot and directed by Tan Chee Meng, a local music producer/video director (the list goes on!). The band wanted a whole new concept for the video compared to the common rock videos.

Estrella originally formed as a trio back in 2006, then shrunk to a duo, armed with their guitars and heartfelt tunes. Singer/guitarist Liyana and lead guitarist Yob began circulating the local music scene with their own brand of acoustic music. Numerous open-mic sessions and gigs at notable shows around town namely Moonshine, Troubadours, Doppelganger, and No Black Tie followed suit, before ultimately capturing the attention of indie label Laguna Music.

After teaming up with Laguna Music in January 2007, Estrella further evolved their genre from indie jazz to a slightly more complex sound, with dreamy and spacey after-effects. Under the suggestion of producer Jeffrey Little, the strummers now became a full band - with members, Ariff Zahidee on bass, Shamsul Idzwan on percussions and Jeffrey Little himself on drums. Having worked their way to perfecting their existing and new material, Estrella’s self-titled album was released on the 28th of December 2007. Simultaneously, Estrella’s singles, ‘Ternyata’ & ‘Stay’, were released to reach-out to both the Malay & English markets...

Deja Voodoo Spells

In the first quarter of the year 2002, the Ministry of Youth and Culture of Malaysia sent representatives to Kyrgyzstan as Ambassadors for the World Music festival held there. The event saw the participation of 40 countries, including Sweden, Africa, Palestine, Germany, Russia, Uzbekistan and the United States of America.

From the Malaysian contingent, two young musicians became acquainted through a common love for music from the Rock genre a bond that holds strong to this very day.

The guitarist Rithan was selected after a series of shortlists, particularly for his contribution to the local music scene. Ainol was an obvious choice. 16 years old at the time, he had already carved a reputation for himself as a sterling drummer and percussionist.

Seeing as how the Festival was a showcase of World Music, Rithan and Ainol performed traditional Malaysian masterpieces such as the Ulik Mayang, Joget Pahang and Jong Jong Inai together with the troupe. Rithan also conducted talks and workshops covering the theory, harmony and rhythm approaches to Malaysian music from a historical perspective.

During the month-long Festival, Rithan and Ainol discovered that they shared similar influences in their individual style, as well as an insatiable love for precision-based Rock music.

Cue three weeks after the World Music Festival. Back in the sunny shores of Malaysia, Ainol contacted Rithan in the hopes that the talented guitarist would be willing to form a band together to take part in Asian Beat, a prestigious battle-of-the-bands competition that spanned the region. Rithan first declined, seeing as how he had only just begun pursuing his degree in Music. A hundred telephone calls later, Rithan finally gave in to Ainols determination and thus, the earliest incarnation of Deja Voodoo Spells was born.

Pada waktu yang sama Alif , Amin dan Jimbo sudah pun mempunyai band yang di panggil Gradiasi. Am pula pernah satu band dengan Bintang suatu ketika dahulu yang diberi nama The Stairs/Trodace tetapi sudah berpecah atas sebab - sebab yang tertentu.

Disebabkan naluri dan keinginan untuk bermain dan berkarya dalam muzik, Am bercadang menubuhkan band semula dengan line up baru dari rakan - rakan kolejnya sndiri. Untuk posisi drum, Am menjemput semula Bintang untuk menyertai band ini. Sementara itu mereka tidak dapat lagi mencari orang yang sesuai utk bermain bass, bintang yang kebetulan mengenali Api yang semasa itu juga baru berpecah dari band asalnya Mist lalu Bintang mencadangkan Api bagi melengkapkan line - up band ini.

"Idea untuk menamakan band ROTI berlaku secara spontan sewaktu kami lepak makan2 dekat kedai mamak berdekatan kolej cosmopoint.waktu itu semuanya order makanan yang sama, Roti. so secara tak langsung kami berpakat menamakan band kami dgn nama roti.antara faktor2 kami memilih nama tersebut adalah kerana roti adalah perkataan yang mudah di sebut,senang di ingat dan roti yang kami bawakan dalam versi muzik adalah 'makanan untuk telinga'."

The Rhaman ditubuhkan pada awal tahun 2005. Secara asasnya, mereka terdiri 4 individu yang berkongsi minat pada muzik dan dunia mistik. Kesan daripada keinginan untuk bereksperimen dengan dengan gaya muzik tempatan, Hafidz dan Ewin telah mempelawa Hayan dan Adik bagi melengkapkan pemposisian instrumentasi pada pra-band mereka. Rentetan daripada itu maka bermulalah The Rhaman dengan Hafidz pada mikrofon dan gitar, Adik pada gitar, Hayan memainkan gitar bass secara dinamik bersama pukulan deram Ewin. Kemudiannya dituruti oleh penyertaan Abong pada sesi rakaman dan disusuli oleh Yuyun setahun kemudian.

Dengan berbekalkan inspirasi daripada bunyian 60an dan langgam tempatan beserta mood nyanyian emosional generasi bundle era 90an, The Rhaman mengaplikasikan sebaik mungkin pengamatan instrumen musikal dalam menghasilkan muzik gubahan mereka. Dan kini, The Rhaman terdiri daripada Hafidz, diposisi gitar irama, Adik, diposisi gitar utama, Hayan sebagai pemain gitar bass, Ewin sebagai pemain deram, Abong di posisi keyboard dan Yuyun di bahagian nyanyian.

Dalam arena muzik tempatan yang agak keliru dengan serbuan band-band asing dari seberang telah sedikit sebanyak membuka mata mereka untuk mengambil inisiatif bagi berkarya dengan menggunakan Bahasa Melayu sebagai medium perantaraan di antara mereka, muzik binaan mereka, dan juga ANDA.

Bunkface

Bunkface are Sam (vocals, guitar), Youk (bass, vocals), Paan (guitar, vocals) and Biak (drums). Formed in 2005, the guys recently released an EP titled Lesson Of The Season, a six-track mini album filled with pop punk goodness.

What started as casual jamming sessions among four secondary school friends ended up forming a band, Bunkface, that is now widely known as a rising star in the local music scene. Although the band was formed in 2005, it was only in late 2006 when they caught the attention of the public through their participation in the hit TV show Blastoff.

The year 2006 proved to be an exciting one for Bunkface. One of the highlights of their experience as fresh young musicians happened in March 2006 when Bunkface won first place for the Battle of the Bands competition in UNISEL organized by ROTTW. Winning the competition opened a door for Bunkface to be featured in a magazine for the very first time. Another sweet success came later that year when Bunkface snatched first place for the Battle of the Bands competition in Universiti Malaya. With that accomplishment, Demoplanet.tv approached Bunkface and offered to sponsor a video clip for the song Hyper Killer. After garnering a truckload of new experiences, Bunkface began writing more and more new songs.

In December 2007, Bunkface released their first EP titled “Lesson of the Season” featuring 6 English tracks with a taste of pop-punk and alternative rock. Fast forward to the present, Bunkface have been featured in ROTTW and interviewed on air numerous times on XFresh FM and Fly FM. They were also interviewed and featured on Era Sentral and The Wknd Sessions. Their first hit song Silly Lily was number 1 on Hitz.fm’s Malaysian Top Ten for 8 weeks and number 1 on Fly.fm’s Campur Chart for 10 weeks. Bunkface’s current hit and first Malay single Situasi has stormed to number 1 on XFresh FM and steadily stayed at number 3 on Era FM for 3 weeks. The band has performed at high school proms, charity events, product launchings, dinner galas, and gigs covering venues all around the Klang Valley, Malacca, Perak, Penang, Johor, Sarawak and Singapore. Bunkface was the opening band for Fly FM 3rd Anniversary showcase, and their very first large scale gig proved to be a success. It is no wonder that their catchy tunes coupled with their addictively energetic and fun filled performances have captured the attention of the masses and event organizers alike!
